Sugandh Lamba was born and raised in Delhi, where her journey in Kathak began at the age of 5. She received her initial training at Pt. Birju Maharaj’s Kalashram and later at Smt. Kumudini Lakhia's Kadamb Centre for Dance. In addition to Kathak, Sugandh trained in contemporary techniques, including release and contact improvisation at Gati, and jazz at The Danceworx, New Delhi. She also pursued theatre at Shri Ram Centre of Performing Arts and earned a Diploma in Speech and Drama from Trinity College London.​

 

After graduating in Mass Communication and Journalism, Sugandh worked extensively as a video producer for over a decade with prestigious media companies such as NDTV GoodTimes and HT Mint. In 2018, she decided to leave her corporate career to move to Mumbai and focus on her passion for dance and filmmaking.​Since then, Sugandh has been teaching Kathak and body movement and directing her own dance company, Movement Stories. As an artistic director, she has worked on various dance-drama productions in Mumbai.

 

She is also the co-founder of Karwat Projects, an independent film company that has been producing award-winning films since 2023.​Sugandh's filmmaking expertise includes direction, video strategy, production, and video editing, reflecting her multidisciplinary approach to storytelling through both dance and cinema.
